Divorce Attorneys, Adoption & Family Law
The adoption process tests the nerves of all expectant future parents. At the final hearing, courts smile,
children cry tears of joy, and proud parents pass out cigars. New parents deserve a round of applause, and in
fact, frequently receive just that. To get there however, be prepared to justify yourself before prying eyes.
How divorce attorneys protect parents
Adoption disputes may arise long after a child comes home to new parents. Each state maintains unique
requirements to create a new parent/child relationship, and perhaps more importantly, terminate the old
parent/child relationship. A full and complete termination is essential to protect the rights of new parents and
children and prevent future claims for custody and/or compensation. Court approval is required. In general,
courts require a hearing and testimony before entering a final approval of adoption. The new parents, through an
adoption/divorce attorney, are responsible for raising each element of law and providing satisfactory proof of
compliance. Courts do not represent parents, and are not obligated to point out errors of law. Attorneys are
responsible, and in the case of dispute or controverted testimony, argue each point of law in the light most
favorable to their client. As each issue is presented and resolved, new parents advance one step closer to final
approval. |
