Divorce Laws, Divorce Affect On Children

Every year, more than 1 million U.S. children experience the separation of parents under state divorce laws. Half of all children born now to traditional marriages will be involved in their parents dissolution by age 18. Middle income families with children usually experience a reduction in income averaging 40%. Half of all children will drop below the national poverty level.

Divorce Laws Provided By Statutes

State divorce laws, whether provided by statutes or court decisions, frequently change as government bodies react to societal changes and political agendas. Family law lawyers must be licensed by the state bar which includes verification of competency in legal analysis of divorce laws, child support regulations and rules of court. Thereafter all family law lawyers must further participate each year in continuing legal education courses that are approved by the state bar. Because of the complex nature of divorce laws and related regulation, each person interested in family law matters should retain qualified, local, legal counsel to review plans and approve all documents before taking any action.
