The frequency of separation in England, and divorce rates have decreased slightly since 2000. The UK Office for National Statistics claims this drop resulted from fewer people electing to marry. The rate of dissolution of marriages in England is currently 0.13% (12.7 people per 1000), compared the U.S. rate of 0.42% (42 people per 1000). Worldwide, the average rate is 0.21% (21 people per 1000).
