Quick Divorce - Child Abuse Facts

The Uniform Child Custody and Enforcement Act of 1997, in Section 104(4), defines a Child Custody proceeding as "a proceeding in which legal custody, physical custody, or visitation with respect to a child is an issue. The term includes a proceeding for divorce, separation, neglect, abuse, dependency, guardianship, paternity, termination of parental rights, and protection from domestic violence, in which the issue may appear. The term does not include a proceeding involving juvenile delinquency, contractual emancipation, or enforcement." If criminal charges are not pursued by law enforcement, divorce attorneys may instigate a quick divorce which will immediately require a judge to determine temporary custody and support, and in appropriate circumstances, a divorce attorney may request protective orders.

4. Emotional help - Even in the best circumstances, divorce causes loss and pain. If you need help coping, do not hesitate to request professional help. You'll find you are not alone. The path to recovery begins with a willingness to admit problems exist.
5. Domestic Violence - Don't tolerate it. Children are especially vulnerable to abusive behavior and carry emotional scars for life. Major studies prove children experience fewer adverse consequences from divorce than living with both parents who are in an abusive relationship.
