Child Support Law - How To Stop A Divorce
Legislatures and courts recognize the necessity for termination of marriages, yet the official policy driving
the design of dissolution and child support laws is decidedly slanted to promote reconciliation. Anyone who
wants to stop a divorce can, quickly, by expressing an interest in reconciliation or contesting legal issues.
Courts frequently stop divorce proceedings to allow counseling, mediation, or an opportunity to negotiate. Be
aware however, that once stopped, divorce proceedings will eventually resume if either spouse demands
dissolution. Likewise, contesting legal issues for the purpose of delay generates unnecessary legal fees and
eventually proceedings resume when contested issues are resolved. Be warned: courts loath frivolous motions and
unreasonable arguments.
